I had my medical check today as part of Stage One of the adoption process; Mr R had his on Friday.
We’d both been sent forms to complete and take along to the medicals for our GP to complete the rest. It was all pretty straight forward stuff, asking about our medical history and whether our immediate families were in good health and if there were any genetic disorders. Thankfully, aside from the miscarriages and ectopic, we both have very boring medical histories.
I wasn’t sure exactly what a medical entailed but I wasn’t prepared for having to strip to my underwear and having nearly every inch of my body prodded! I thought my days of being poked and prodded by doctors was over when we made the decision to go down the adoption route, but obviously not! At least it was a one off, and the medicals are another thing ticked off the Stage One list.
Next step: our adoption training sessions.
