I went for my first fertility acupuncture session this afternoon. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Would I like the therapist, would it hurt, how would I feel afterwards, more importantly would it work…
The Therapist, Helen, was lovely. Very chatty and down to earth, I instantly felt at ease. She asked me lots of questions, and groaned when I said I was on Clomid! Helen doesn’t agree with the use of Clomid, and said a study had been carried out in the USA that shows Clomid can have the opposite effect and actually act as a contraceptive!! Obviously I had a moment of panic at that thought but I will reserve judgement until I’ve carried out my own research through good old Dr Google!
Anyway, the actual acupuncture was fine and didn’t hurt at all, if I hadn’t looked I wouldn’t have known the needles were in me – 2 in my abdomen and I think 4 in my right leg down to my foot. Next time I will ask her why they were placed in those particular places. She is going to try to shorten my cycles naturally, and enable my body to carry a pregnancy to term. Given I CAN get pregnant she’s pretty hopeful she’ll be able to do this and hopefully in this cycle – please please please, not that I’m getting my hopes up or anything!!

Hi, I really hope your accupuncture is successful. Reflexology is another alternative therapy that can be tailored specifically to female reproductive requirements should you want to give that a go too. I look forward to reading some good news soon. x
