We’re back from a lovely weekend in Norfolk for our Goddaughter’s Christening and 1st birthday celebrations. It was really good to get away and catch up with our friends, and of course see our Goddaughter. She’s a real character, so advanced for her age and so funny she had us all laughing. The only downside to this lovely weekend was being surrounded yesterday by bumps and babies, oh and having to listen to people’s well meant advice of “relax”, “don’t worry, stop trying and it’ll happen”… Aargh! If only things were that simple eh!
On our previous visit, in amongst helping to plan the Christening, my friend turned to me and said she had something to ask me, well to ask both Mr R and I. I couldn’t imagine what, as they’d already asked us to be Godparents. Then she said that they’d discussed it, and spoken with their parents, and decided that should anything happen to both of them they would like Mr R and I to become legal guardians of their daughter. Oh my goodness, I’m not one for getting teary but this really brought the tears to my eyes. Being asked to be a Godparent is an honour, but to actually have someone tell you they would want you to raise their child in the event of their death is just, well no words could describe it. What an honour.
